blue clay
Guelman Gallery, kiev, ukraine;
curated by natalia filonenko
(sponsored by Swiss Foundation Pro Helvetia in Ukraine).
the participants of this exhibition were ukrainian and russian artists. all of them focused their attention on one color – blue. being pre-psychological, colors raise specific associative ideas, blue at most suggests the sea and sky, the endless initial elements, and they are the most abstract in actual and visible nature. it is their description that evidently leads to the blue tone of the pictorial, photographic or media image and a certain minimalism of means.
